Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the doctor . . . Hillary Clinton is back, Beth Fouhy reports for the Associated Press:
"This is not government-run," the party's front-runner said of her plan to extend coverage to an estimated 47 million Americans who now go without. Her declaration was a clear message to Republicans, the insurance industry, businesses and millions of voters who nervously recall what sank her effort at health care reform 13 years ago in her husband's first term -- fear of a big-government takeover.
In unveiling her plan, she called for a requirement for businesses to obtain insurance for employees, and said the wealthy should pay higher taxes to help defray the cost for those less able to pay for it. She put the government's cost at $110 billion a year.
Read the whole article at the link above. Sure, the government will tell you what sort of coverage you MUST buy, tell your employers what coverage they MUST provide you, and tell insurance companies what they MUST cover and at what cost, and the government is spending $110 billion - but it won't be "government run." Sure, and the Ab-Lounger Plus™ can eliminate the national weight problem . . .
Health care services are not unlimited, so offering "universal coverage" necessarily requires price controls and rationing. Government control of the options available ensures inefficiency and costs far higher than promised.
There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. Somebody always has to pay. If you wonder who that might be, take a look in the mirror.

When the government can no longer tax us to pay the increasing drug costs for hypertension, obesity, diabetes, and atherosclerosis, they will force us to 'Work for Food' which will at least ameliorate the increasing need.
