A new Survey USA poll commissioned by KSTP-TV shows incumbent Republican Senator Norm Coleman with a substantial lead over possible Democratic challenger Al Franken. From KSTP.com:
The poll shows Coleman getting 57 percent of the vote and Franken getting 35 percent.
* * * * *Coleman is clearly the choice of male voters, more than 65 percent of men surveyed said they'd chose Minnesota's Senior Senator. However, Franken gets the nod from almost 75 percent of the voters considered to be in 'Generation Y'.
Franken did not score high among voters in the Twin Cities region, getting only 32 percent of those voters and has only convinced 66 percent of state Democrats to vote for him. Coleman gets all but six percent of the votes among state Republicans, but needs help in the Northeast region of the state, where the poll shows him scoring only 37 percent of the vote.
The whole report is at the link above. It's still a long way from the election, but these numbers at least put into perspective the bleating claims of the moonbat metrosexuals around here that "Franken will stomp Coleman." It's mainly reflective of the fervent desire of the buck-toothed moron community for a voice in the Senate. A loud and obnoxious voice.
Hat-tip to Captain Ed for pointing to this article.
UPDATE 4:22 p.m.: Thanks to Power Line, here's the video of Franken's announcement. He shows the polish of his nearly 30 years in television and radio, and is careful not to sound too radical or insane (in other words, not like the real Al). Good job! No way Garrison Keillor could have pulled this off:

The entire dhimmi party has became a comedy so why wouldn't they elect another comedian?

The numbers will get a lot closer however, the Iraq War is very unpopular here. Hopefully it is going better by next year.
I do find it interesting that Franken doesn't do any better against Coleman than Ciresi does. Although Ciresi has run before for major offices, Franken still has a higher name ID.
