A reader alerted me to the staus of the new GOP ad that will replace the "Playboy" ad which some have described (incorrectly in my opinion) as injecting racism into the Corker-Ford race:"Channel 5 in Nashville will not run until it is FACT CHECKED. Channel 2 is running the ad. Cannot find out if channel 4 is or not. According to News 2 Channel 5 has now decided not to run the new ad because the Ford campaign asked them not to run it. That was reported on Channel 2 news at 10."
Here is the Channel 2 report:
Republican Bob Corker, asked the RNC to pull the first so-called "Playboy" ad when it started airing last week. ""I just don't think thereshould be an ad like that, that doesn't reflect the tone of this campaign, so I am glad its down, I am glad its over with," said Corker.Corker acknowledged the Ford "Playboy" ad may have hurt his campaign, but says commercials about him from the Democratic Party are tacky as well and Ford isn't calling for those ads to be pulled.
A Vanderbilt professor who's written extensively on negative ads says the new RNC commercial sounds like it's from a candidate who's running from behind, not one supposedly ahead. "The ad is making some claims that the Ford campaign claim is false, and in fact some TV stations here inTennessee refuse to run the ad, and that is because they have not had enough documentation for the claims. That is pretty unusual, and now we have another ad that is further pushing the limits," he said.
Those limits, from both sides, may be pushed even further as Election Day gets closer. After a request from the Ford campaign, Channel 5 here in Nashville and WRCB in Chattanooga have not yet run the latest Republican National Committee ad. News 2 and Fox-17 are running this second RNC commercial. Channel 4 did not say what it will do. Bob Corker's campaign said Wednesday night: "It's an ad that we would not have produced quitethat way, but it's accurate."
Channel 5 described the status of the new commercial as follows.
The Republican National Committee said the ad has run its course. They want to replace it with another ad that addresses Ford's stance on the morning after pill.NewsChannel 5 has the new RNC commercial in its possession. The station is reviewing it for accuracy, before it can air.
TV stations do not have the discretion to remove commercials submitted by the candidates themselves. However, TV stations do have that discretion with ads submitted by political parties, because the station is responsible for their accuracy.
Update: A reader in Tennessee tells me the new ad is now being run by Channel 5. More on the subject of the Corker-Ford ads here.

The only people to see the RNC ad for Ford as racist were the racist in the democratic party and the 'me to' media crowd. If the ad is racist, every movie showing a black 'star' with a white woman is racist. Someone has to get on one side of the fence and stay there. Flip Flopping like Hanoi John just don't cut it. The democratic agenda looks like a piece of paper someone shot with a shotgun loaded with birdshot.
The only constant I see from all of the democrats is that we will pay super high taxes for a while and then we will get killed by the terrorists.

They don't have to make anything up against Ford. Seems his record of missed votes, over 300 should indicate he doesn't care about his position. Add the many trips on 'your' dollar and ask a few questions. Were these trips on government business or was he drumming up business for his 'family' of criminals? I suspect the trips had nothing to do with government business and all to do with the 'family' business of crime. Can he justify any of the trips? Ask him.

Dude, can I quote this, extensively and repeatedly, on my blogs? Did you make it up or steal it from someone, cuz it's brilliant...that 'why vote republican' ad takes, what, 3 minutes to get its point across? You just boiled it down to a catchphrase...I love it.
'Vote Democrat - Don't worry about the high taxes, you'll be dead before you even really feel them! And then you can pay them again!'

Has any blog identified all the actors in the infamous Corker ad with the "Canada's not busy" line etc?

Ford Jr is now in a mess as his criminal like dad Ford Sr is promoting their independent candidate--brother ford out of Ford Jrs offices. Ford Sr and Jr are throwing a perfectly good liberal dem, steve cohen, by the side to elect younger brother as an Independent. Dems are not happy with the Fords in Tenn.

If the status of Ford's votes were analysed, that alone would turn off many of Tenn.'s voters. Stick to the record and Corker should win this race. That Corker is viewed as being behind is strange to me since Ford's ads have not been bean bag and nice, nice either. Chris Matthews thinks that the voters in Tenn. are all drunks and smoke while hooting at TV racist ads . I pray that the voters simply realize that Ford's politics would not be good for Tenn. and or the Senate. It is his policies and agendas which are not good and his race should have nothing to do about it . Of course, the Dems use race but remember, only Pubs are racists and cannot have black candiates that are not Oreos. Well, Blackwell, Steele, Swann are good black conserv Pub candidates and yet they are dissed constantly. The MSM never comments upon the biased ads against those black candidates.
