Powerful ad.

I read somewhere today that in his book, Fox tells of stopping taking his meds before testifying before Congress. Looks like he did the same thing here in order to generate more sympathy for his political position.

Or maybe he just gets his meth from McCaskill.

That has to be the worst ad of this cycle. I almost nodded of watching Kurt Warner babble. Maybe if they found someone relevant to the issue, like a scientist or someone who also is afflicted with a condition, this ad might have made sense. But the lady from Everybody loves Raymond is about as relevant and powerful as Ben Aflack endorsing Kerry.

This is VERY powerful. Those are very respected people and could well make a difference. Jeff Suppan and Kurt Warner for the St. Louis side of the state, and Mike Sweeney for the Kansas City side. I live across the line in Kansas, and I don't know how I would vote if I lived in Missouri. My company is one of the supporters of the question, and I respect them very highly, too.

Patricia Heaton (the lady from Raymond) is actually one of the few celebrities who is outspokenly pro-life. I think she is Catholic, if I am not mistaken, and has spoken out on life issues several times before over the past few years. I agree that it would be more effective with an expert on the research, but to include someone with Parkinson's, or another disease, would only increase the emotion quotient.

Evangelical Republicans are squarely on the wrong side of this issue, and my guess is that this issue may, in retrospect, end up being one of the deciding factors that sends Independents and centrist Republicans to the blue side of the buffet table this November.

Derrick, get some sleep. You always complain of nodding off. Maybe a little less prozac and booze mixed for your BDS will help.

I agree with Lee on this one. It's apples and oranges people.

The poor voters of Missouri have more than one tough choice:

Stem cell research or not; and
Claire McCaskill vs Roy Blunt.

Probably you didn't read anyting at all, but you were just quoting what we all heard Rush say this week.

So you should know, for this condition, if you're off your meds you lock up, not shake.

John, you brain-dead dolt, if you READ my post, I never said I read the book. I read a quote from the book. If I remembered where, I would have mentioned or linked it, but I don't. I read several dozen posts and articles every single day. If I had to guess where, I'd say NRO.

You are casigating me for telling you the truth. I don't swear the quote was accurate, BUT I remember Fox was indeed like the commercial at his congressional hearing, but I've seen him in far better states in between.

Now, if you are claiming he DID NOT say that in his book, I will happily search the quote down or buy the damn thing for the sheer pleasure of showing you a liar.

It appears he made the conscious decision to appear without meds to shock the panel. Just because he is a victim of a terrible disease, are we not allowed to question whether or not this constitutes a deception? And, whether or not he adopted the same tactic for the ad he filmed for McCaskill?

Should decisions on science OR elections be made on the basis of contrived emotional sympathetic reactions?

It looks like the Dems and Mr Fox have been outfoxed! It sucks when your opponents (the Repubs) anticpates your moves! LOL

You want a scientist, well, I'm one. A molecular cell biologist. And I resent this manipulation of a complex issue. Embryonic stem cell research may never offer a cure. Right now, it mainly grows tumors in mice. Adult stem cell research is moving along showing results in actual humans that are very encouraging. And, guess what, they are helping all of the diseases that the embryonic cells are overhyped to "cure" someday. And helping right now. Today!! Don't be so overtrusting of scientists. They, like all, want their grant money to flow and they will get more if the federal agencies can fund them. And, what really bugs me is the idea that stem cells of any type will cure Alzheimer's. That disease is not a candidate for that therapy as is Parkinson's and diabetes. Yet, it is always mentioned.

producer don murphy is notorious for his online scuffles. recently he got into it with fans of the transformers cartoon. he's working on a live-action transformers movie now for release next summer.
