I feel bad that people keep trying to find the one secret reason that Democrats are disappointed in Lieberman. It is not one kiss, or one policy stance, or one quote, or even his political philosophy. It is the confluence of being deferential to Bush, supporting the war when most Democrats do not and few CT residents do, being for SS privatization before being against it, being an anchor for Bush's "bipartisan" works by being the only Democrat, suggesting that rape victims should be able to find another hospital to get care at, not standing up against judges that his party, left and moderate, oppose. The list goes on and on. And his campaign has proven how out of touch he is---a lot of candidates can wander a bit and then bear down and prove their value to the constituents. Joe should be embarrassing Lamont but he struggles, and to a lot of Democrats that demonstrates that he is out of touch, and nothing turns off voters more than an attitude of "entitlement".
The disappointment in Lieberman is not a blanket anger with all pro-war candidates, or those that support Bush occasionally, or those that are long term incumbents, so others are not likely to face the scrutiny that Joe does.
