An attack -- or even an attempted attack -- by Islamic extremists on Saudi Arabia's oil sector would have disastrous consequences on the world market and the price per barrel, analysts warn. Of more than 700 people arrested in the course of the last six months in Saudi Arabia, dozens had been part of cells charged with preparing attacks against oil sites, according to authorities in Riyadh.

Alex, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Reid getting fired in 2010, just like Daschle.
You mentioned recruiting a good candidate to oppose Reid, which is an important point. What hasn't happened much outside my blog is the mentioning of the great recruiting that the GOP did for open House races. In my state of Minnesota, we've got several top tier candidates for the U.S. House.
The Democrats, on the other hand, have picked a couple losers for the open Senate seat & for CD-6. Patty Wetterling is running again for CD-6, where she's running against Michele Bachmann. I've talked several times with Michele since meeting her this February. I'd be surprised if Michele didn't win with 55+ percent of the vote in November.
Mark Kennedy, the man who's leaving the CD-6 seat to run for the Senate is running against Amy Klobuchar. Last Friday night, Klobuchar had a meltdown moment on Almanac, a public TV show on Minnesota politics. The video of that meltdown was bouncing across the right blogosphere by the time the sun rose Saturday morning.

Our big problem has been recruiting for Senate races. If we had recruited a strong candidate in 2004, we wouldn't be talking about beating Reid in 2010 today.
We have actually ended up with some good candidates against the weak incumbents in Washington, Michigan, and Nebraska, but all came into the race relatively late. They would have stood better chances of winning with a year's head start on fundraising and campaigning. And we ended up with about the only candidate in Florida who makes Nelson the favorite to keep his seat after his leftist voting record.
